Health & Safety Trainer
Health & Safety Trainer required for a new, temporary role in Durham. This is a full-time role and to start as soon as possible, with an anticipated length of 3-4 months.
The Role
Development, coordination, and delivery (as appropriate) of health and safety training to staff. Including the maintenance of a training and CPD schedule for the organisation.
Initial point of contact for Health & Safety queries, providing advice, solutions, and general support.
Ensure the information of accident / injury details, investigation reports are accurately recorded, and statistics are compiled to identify causes and trends.
Support incident investigations and QA of all other H&S investigations to ensure compliance with enforcement authority guidance. (HSE)(Marine AIB) (EH).
Assist in the identification, coordination, completion, and approval of appropriate risk assessments, including providing appropriate advice on suitable and sufficient risk assessments.
Carry out planned and unplanned inspections of premises, plant, and equipment to ensure that current health and safety policies are in place in conjunction with representative bodies.
Develop and maintain positive collaborative relationship with all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
Attend relevant service meeting and groups. Collate and present information on H&S performance and attend and contribute to relevant committees, meetings, seminars and participate in task groups as required.
To ensure professional and technical knowledge is up to date and maintained through continuous professional development, including attendance at internal and external training courses, as necessary.
It is expected that the post-holder will operate flexibly in any location and undertake any other tasks and projects which could reasonably be expected of someone holding this post, including assisting other sections as required, commensurate with the grade or of a lower grade.
Flexible working may mean evening and/or weekend working may be required.
Maintain the Health & Safety SharePoint site.
To deputise for the Health & Safety Adviser where required.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a Health & Safety Certificate (NEBOSH or equivalent) and will ideally hold an associate member of IOSH and have a Level 3 award in Education & Training.
Experience of working in a health and safety role is essential, along with the ability to analyse and interpret information and support an environment of continuous improvement. Coupled with this, applicants must have experience of working with policies and procedures and of teaching and delivering training to groups and individuals.
Good interpersonal and communication skills are important along with the ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships. Being able to work alone, using discretion and initiative is essential along with the ability to understand the functions of relevant organisations e.g., HSE, TUC.
Applicants will have an awareness of relevant workplace legislation and directives, the ability to write accurate and effective reports on Health & Safety matters and the ability to understand current legislation and best practice.
Full driving licence is also essential.
Remuneration
£14.47 to £15.30 per hour.
