A new role, borne out of growth, for an experienced Planner (Construction environment) to join a successful regional team within this large, privately owned, multidisciplinary construction business.

The Role
Reporting to the Regional Bid Manager, the Planner will be chiefly responsible for assisting within a multi-function planning department to support delivery and commercial management of projects from all streams of the business, the co-ordination and management of tender planning when required, including support to the technical bid and methodology submissions and for the successful production, monitoring and update of construction and contractual programmes.

Key Accountabilities
Produce well-constructed and considered tender programmes built from first principle planning.
Work closely with the Bid manager and Tender teams and play a part in the successful conclusion of each tender opportunity.
Attend Tender settlements and delivery the Programme and Logistical aspects of the tender.
Produce logic linked programmes with clearly defined Critical Path.
Produce Preliminary costings that reflect the nature of each individual project.
Contribute to the Risk and Opportunity schedule.
Understand the logistical aspects of delivering each project and produce high quality Plans and Method Statements for Tender.
Confidence in attending Client interviews, Mid tender briefings and the like.
Engage with Supply chain partners to understand the sequencing and delivery outputs of each specialist trade.
Arrange and host Technical meetings with Supply chain partners.
Attend Design team meetings.
To successfully produce, monitor and update construction and contractual programmes, alongside other associated material, for a number of projects being undertaken concurrently.
Ability to handle information from multiple sites.
Progress monitoring and reporting of projects.
Assist in the production of other associated material, eg phasing plans, site and traffic management layouts.
Develop contract and target programmes.
Visit sites, assess progress, compile the information and track the programmes.
Monitor, update and develop mitigation programmes to meet the operational, contractual and commercial needs of each project.
Consider areas of high programme risk and identify milestones.
Ensure compliance with client requirements for progress monitoring.
Produce resource histograms.
Assist site staff to produce their own stage and weekly programmes short term programmes.
Update programmes and report progress on a regular basis – Usually at the Contract Review Meetings (monthly).
Advise site team and/or senior management of areas of concern.
Update programmes for Early Warnings and Compensation Events, subject to Contract Conditions (NEC).
Provide information to assist in financial assessments, i.e. delay and disruption.
Maintain As-built programmes.
Maintain written commentary of criticality, i.e. logic, links and methodology of all programmes.
Maintain database of programmes, clearly titled, tender through to completion, in a format and location that’s available to all relevant Managers on a read only basis.
Develop skills of junior planners.

Experience Required
Construction related degree preferable but not essential.
Candidates must demonstrate the following to be given consideration.
Previous planning experience.
Experience of planning multi-disciplinary civil engineering, build and housing projects.
Working knowledge of Asta Power Project Project, or other planning software. (Microsoft etc).
Experience of NEC contracts and other common construction contracts (JCT etc).
Good interview techniques for tender assessments.
A willingness to learn and think logically are essential, as is the ability to work in a fast and accurate manner to achieve deadlines.
Ability to use MS Office packages.
Any other training and experience necessary will be provided as required during employment.
