A permanent opportunity for an Estimator to join a prominent painting and decorating contractor.
Privately owned painting and decorating subcontractor that have been established for 20 years, based in Tyne and Wear.
The role is to provide support to the Estimating function for the whole business, being responsible for producing the commercial aspects for a tender document with a view to securing new business. This will be done by working out how much a project is likely to cost and create budgets accordingly. The successful candidate will be required to provide prices for everything from a one-off scheme to regular projects with established long term clients.
Prepare bills of quantities and take offs from project documentation.
Price bills and schedules of work.
Propose preliminary costs appropriate for the project.
Present prepared estimates and reports in industry standard.
Prepare custom reports from resource as required.
Review enquiries and establish bid strategies.
Make presentations and attend client interviews/meetings.
Preparation of structural estimates.
Experience of working for a painting and decorating subcontractor.
Ability to accurately forecast revenue, profitability, margins, bill rates and utilisation.
Ability to evaluate bid specifications and drawings, in order to be successful in winning contracts.
Ability to provide and take P&L responsibility for all estimating work allocated.
Construction related qualification (desirable).
Highly organised and responsible.
Able to work independently using your initiative and maintain confidentiality at all times.
Ability to work to strict deadlines and timetables.
Experience of working in a similar sized (or greater) business is essential.
