Due to continued, steady expansion a new position has been created for a Quantity Surveyor to join a long established and highly reputable subcontractor based in Newcastle but with responsibility for projects throughout the North East.
This is a new position and as such there is the opportunity for the Quantity Surveyor to shape their own role, implement policies and procedures and become an important & senior member within the company.
Established for 30 years, a family owned company operating as subcontractor in various Civil Engineering Sectors including Highways, Civils and general Construction projects in both the public and private sectors.
The company have experienced steady growth, are consistently profitable and now have a turnover over £14m with a forecast growth of 10% year on year. They have an excellent record of staff retention and development with the majority of their staff being employed for well over 10 years.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing commercial and contractual administration of numerous projects with a wide range of individual values, maximising profitability and limiting commercial risk.
Reporting to the Managing Director you will work closely with site management teams to ensure contract objectives and margins are met.
Preparation of timely interim and final accounts
Monitor Contract performance on a monthly and quarterly basis
Prepare any compensation Events / Variations
Commercial Reporting and Cost forecasting
Dispute avoidance / resolution
A relevant professional Quantity Surveying qualification (HND or equivalent)
A minimum of 3 years appropriate experience
Working knowledge of NEC 3 and JCT conditions of Contract preferred
Ability to undertake numerous site measures
Ability to work clearly and accurately under pressure
Computer literate with a good understanding of Excel
Experience of working on Civils Contracts would be preferred but not essential – candidates from other construction backgrounds will be considered.
Negotiable plus car/allowance and generous package, dependent on experience and competence brought to the role.
